Face to FAITH Decades went by before I felt the need to enter a church again. Not that I have any bad memories of them, in fact my memories were pretty good and could be summed up in interminable laughter between friends during the Sunday mass under the red nose of the priest who had placed us there to keep an equally red eye on us.
A token is a fraction of the whole. It is not the original, and it will never be the original. It is a sliver, a moment in time, to stand-in for that which is irreplaceable. My art series “Token” was inspired by that definition.
In Chicago, behind the shops and restaurants, there are service alleys. These narrow canyons are lined with dumpsters which are filled each day and emptied each night.
These 14 ruined-by-time doors, suffering, aching, are becoming symbols of a journey - a Via Crucis of the Soul. Doors are seen as diaphragms to hide human miseries, although they are tending to a light of hope.
There are two Venices in the world: One is the floating city in Italy, the other is the palm tree-lined California beach. An extraordinary world in flux where the moody tides of fact and fiction converge.
There is a so-called “anti-extremist legislation” in Russia, which includes a number of laws and regulations. Blurred wording of articles allow authorities to use it to suppresses the freedom of speech and to pressure on the mass media and critically-minded citizens.
Berlin bhf. (bahnhof) is a staged series that is rooted in intimate issues of my personal life, through which I could emphasize Berlin being a transitory place, a habitat of the passengers.
Still life can be a portal to a personal kind of history. In some ways it’s very intimate: the objects chosen by the Photographer  reveal what they consider to be either of social or cultural importance, or of personal value to them.
The study of History has been presented as a model based on the narration of facts focused on dates. The Nouvelle Histoire emerged opposing this old model by accepting the challenge of focusing on ordinary individuals and putting a name and a face to those characters who had been cast into oblivion.
Dark side of the mind show the power of thoughts. Thoughts are powerful cosmic waves in the universal sea of energy we live in. They are amazing but if your thoughts tend to go stray they can also create problems.
Photography is combined with techniques based on the scripture of the blind: with projections, photographic interventions and installations, words and alphabetical eyes are formed from Braille and incorporated into material and photographic reality.
Quotidian Life “ Series “ Living in a great city, I was naturally driven to street photography and depicting the quotidian life in its simplest form. I admit being very audacious not necessarily following the rules surrounding this type of photography in the pure sense of its definition.
As seen in the plato’s allegory of the cave, all of us are constantly caught between  fictions and realities, battling on the thin line between pleasure and pain.
In this time I have come across some characters, sometimes peculiar, who lived in some of those homes to which I came. At first, their presence made me uncomfortable as they used to interrupt my work.
Anthropocene – human traces We were here… In this work I am addressing the imprint that humanity is leaving on planet Earth. Through combustion of fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal, etc), herding and agriculture, mining, water diversion, species extinction, deforestation, etc.
The missing forest It is not the forest of milk of Dylan Thomas nor the mysterious jungle of Emilio Salgari. It is – just and nothing less – a handful of twigs that the time dried and the eye finished to dissect and isolate, until they float in black chamber, turning them into ideograms of an underground pondering.
This is like a story that author wants to tell with the help of things. A story about someone or someone’s life - which was spied by Roman Zakrevsky. A life is like a frame that consists from different kind of stuff. Stuff like light, lines, person, colors, shapes - stuff that works with your eyes and your perception / imagination.
The body of work “Thou Art..,Will Give...’ is derived from the first Penitentiary in the United States. The Quakers started it because they believed they could reform people by putting them in solitaire for the full sentence and provide them with a Bible to give their Penitence. It was their grand experiment to try and help people. Obviously, it did not work.
Trauma This self-portrait series aims to explore the themes of brokenness, the struggles of loss and grief, the regrets of past decisions and my personal experiences with generational trauma and mental health struggles.
Olga Merrill lived and worked in Russia until March of 2013 when she came to Maine, USA and her life changed. At the end of 2015 her life changed even more – she got a gift – a photo camera and her view of the world became different through lens
This series deals with a notion of loss and absence. I photograph and through the act of capturing I isolate people and objects from time and space to show first of all inability photography to capture constant change and movement of reality.
In Imagine Magic I use found light and textures to make visible the dreamscapes hidden in everyday life. I often find myself moving through my daily routine without really observing my environment, particularly when I am at home.
In reaction to my father’s death, I use the camera to describe my inner emotions. I found myself entangled in a complex web of emotions and reactions.  I felt disorientated, as if I had lost my place and purpose in life.  I was living in a different world.
"Escape" is devoted to several years of my life when I did not want to deal with my feelings, being not ready to be sincere with myself. I've been working as a photographer for a magazine and a real estate company, riding my black Vespa through the city, videotaping a psychedelic metal band, and I was in love.
Direction is a fine art photography project to display the high contrast of light and shadow. In this project, I am looking for the charm of light and shadow.
The world is a living and dead matter. Each matter has its central point. The most important place, like the core of the earth. The essence of seeing and understanding the world. Pleasure and wisdom. The focal point is energy, invisible to the eye.
As everybody knows, Photography is the art of ‘writing’ with light. What is written is what light can register: shapes, tones, things and people. In a word, Photography deals with what the philosopher Descartes called ‘extension’.
Natural, without complaisance, a heroine, conquering version, dreams of a masterly brush stroke, story to finish in beauty. Games of colours, aesthetic choices initiating a return of the sap and feelings.
There is nothing more beautiful and liberating than indulging in your (one’s) own pandemonium, nothing more reassuring of one’s existence, both spiritually and physically, and this belief of mine gave birth to this particular series.
My father once told me that my world is like a black and white image, but I guess my heart has found it ́s own colours. I began my Just Small Hiccups story after I moved back to my childhood home with my own family.
Often in life, it seems that we are in control of our activities, surroundings and we can plan, design and even produce accordingly. But with my experience of life, which I would not say differ by an extravagant amount than anyone of you
Reno embodies ideas of Western idealism, the frontier spirit, transience, and the gambler’s impulse to risk everything for the chance at a better life. It was founded as a toll, a passage across the Truckee River, and on silver from the Comstock Lode.
