B&WCityEuropeStreet Photography by Paola Saetti

My reference field in the photography is the street, the people and the scenes that take place in it. I can say that I use the camera to record what is going on inside me, through what my eyes see I try to compose an image which best reflects my mood.

My reference field in the photography is the street (street photography), the people and the scenes that take place in it. I can say that I use the camera to record what is going on inside me, through what my eyes see I try to compose an image which best reflects my mood.

Photography to me is a way of life, a state of mind. I walk most of the time listening to music and camera in my right hand, I seek a vantage point in front of me almost as a move deep into the game of chess, sometimes this has helped me to catch a really decisive moment that takes place almost as a magical synchronicity of events, as if my mind was in harmony with the things around me.

I feel particularly drawn to the faces of the people and that’s why I love taking candid portraits, when I feel sad I love to take motion blur because i am fascinated by the invisible time passing by in front of our eyes. The masters who most inspired me and where I get teachings are HCB, Erwitt, Mayer, Evans, Frank and many others of present time

For as long as I can remember, I was always the one taking photos of my family and friends at parties and family reunions, using a disposable camera or an old, cheap 35mm. I just wanted to cover the walls of my bedroom, with photos of happy moments and memories.

My portraits are characterized by elegance, lightness and spontaneity. They seek to bring up forgotten or repressed personalities, those parts that society has said were not appropriate, what was imprisoned because they labeled it ugly and found it improper.
