Yevhen Kostiuk is a self-taught photographer from Ukraine, known for transforming everyday landscapes into abstract aerial compositions. As an ambassador for 500px and curator at 100asa, he is also a member of Amazing Aerial, using drone photography to explore minimalism, geometry, and color. His signature style, which he calls Fine Aertial, has earned international recognition through awards from reFocus, Chromatic, and the Dodho Colors Awards.
The call is open to photographers from around the world, both professional and amateur, aged 18 and over.
Images must be submitted in JPG format, 1200 pixels on the longest side, and 72 dpi. Horizontal, vertical, or square formats are accepted. All photographs will be used exactly as submitted, with no cropping or modifications.
Each participant may submit multiple images, provided they are included individually within a single .ZIP or .RAR file. Optionally, a short explanatory text about the work may be included in the same file.
All entries are judged fairly and without bias. The jury reviews every image without knowing the name of the photographer or any personal details that could affect their judgment.
Each photo is considered on four main aspects: the technical execution, the emotional strength it conveys, the clarity and balance of the composition, and the uniqueness of the photographer’s visual voice.
Once the selection process is complete, we will contact the overall winner to arrange the transfer of the cash prize, as well as the other winners and the photographers whose images have been selected for the annual book, in order to request the high-resolution files.
All participants who were not selected will also be notified by email. On the day of publication, everyone who entered will receive a digital copy of the annual book featuring the final selection, so they can discover the works chosen by the jury.
Photographers selected for publication must submit high-resolution versions of their images, along with links to their website and Instagram, as well as the final title of the image.
To meet our editing and layout deadlines, it is essential that all requested materials are delivered within the established timeframe.
Once all materials have been received, we will finalize the design of the annual book and send a preview to each participant so they can review their feature before the official release.
Do you believe your work deserves to be there? Then make sure you get it in on time.
Before you begin, decide how many individual photographs you want to submit.
All options offer exactly the same conditions for evaluation and visibility. The only difference is how many images you choose to put on the table.
Each photograph is judged independently. This is not about series or projects but about single images, each one considered on its own strength, vision and ability to stand out.
Choosing how many to submit is choosing how many chances you give yourself. There is no better option, only the one that fits what you want to show.
You’ve already decided how many images you’ll submit. Now it’s time to take the next step: confirm you’re in.
The payment process is quick and straightforward. Use whatever method suits you best, no distractions, no complications.
From here on, there’s no turning back. This is the moment you stop hesitating and back your work.
After confirming your participation, you’ll receive a personal link to upload your images. It will appear on screen and also arrive in your email.
Everything’s ready so you can upload your work without distractions, whenever you’re ready. Simple as that. Clear and direct.
Final step. Gather the images you’re going to submit in a folder named with your first and last name. That’s it. No need for strange titles, numbering, or extra details. Just clarity.
Everything should arrive clearly identified and ready to review. No unnecessary steps, no room for mistakes. You do your part. We’ll do ours.
When you take part, you’re confirming that the images you send are yours, created by you and ready to be shown publicly.
Each submission is reviewed based on what it says, how it looks, and what it conveys. Behind every image, we expect authorship that’s deliberate and genuine.
That’s the only real condition: honesty with your work, and respect for the process. If what you’re sending reflects your vision, you’re doing it right.
Sending your images doesn’t mean giving up your rights. Your work stays yours, always.
We only ask for your permission to use it within this call. That means showing it, reviewing it, possibly publishing it in print or online, and promoting it through our usual channels.
Outside of this, your images won’t be used for anything else. If someone’s interested, we’ll ask you first, and the decision will be entirely up to you. This license is free, non-exclusive, and applies only to this call. Your name stays on your work. Always.
What you send is yours. Before, during, and after this call. Dodho doesn’t claim your rights, doesn’t ask for exclusivity, and doesn’t use your images outside the agreed context.
Wherever your image appears, on our site, in the magazine, on social media, your name will be right there with it. Because we respect what you’ve made, and we know what it means to share your work with the world.
We don’t publish to fill space. We publish to give your work a place. And that place has your name on it. The credit is always yours. So is the authorship.
If your image is selected, Dodho may use it to promote the call and highlight your work, always within the limits of this specific context. That includes our website, the magazine’s digital edition, social media, media outreach, and selected partner platforms. Your name will always appear with it.
We don’t sell images. We don’t pass them to third parties. And we never use your work for anything outside this call without your clear permission. If someone is interested, you’ll hear it from us directly, and the choice is all yours. Bottom line: we use your image to show it, not to exploit it. What’s yours stays yours.
In short: images are only used to give the author visibility within the framework of this call. That’s it. Anything beyond that is up to you. Because what you share is yours, and it always will be.
Ready to upload your images?
Choose how many you want to include — 3, 6, or 12 — and fill out the form. It’s quick, straightforward, and only asks for what’s essential. Once the payment is complete (card or PayPal), you’ll receive your personal WeTransfer link to upload your files.
Want to upload more images later?
No problem. Just go through the process again. Each upload is handled separately. No limits.
Working as a duo or a team?
That’s fine. One person fills out the form, and credit goes to the full team.
What format should my images be in?
JPG, RGB mode, and at least 1200 pixels on the longest side. Rename them like this: Lastname_Firstname_01.jpg. No codes, no tricks, no weird formats.
Do I need to include a text or statement?
No, it’s not required. But if you feel it adds something to your submission, you’re free to include a PDF or DOC in your upload folder. Completely optional.
Previously published? No problem.
Your images don’t need to be new, unpublished or exclusive. If they’ve already been shown, awarded, or featured somewhere — that’s fine. The only thing that matters is that they’re yours and you hold the rights.
Old, recent, or from ten years ago? That’s up to you.
We’re not here to check dates. The jury looks at what the image says, not when it was taken. If it still speaks today, it’s valid.
Are the images still mine after uploading them?
Absolutely. Nothing changes, your work remains 100% yours. What you’re allowing is limited, temporary use to give it visibility: online, in print, or across our platforms. Always with your name, always within this call.
Can I change my mind and take them down later?
Yes. Just let us know with 30 days’ notice. The only exception is if the image is already in print or about to go live. We won’t use your work in ways you haven’t approved.
What makes an image stand out to the jury?
Something with personality. Not just technically correct — but with intention, clarity, and a point of view. If it brings something to the table, it stays on the table.
When will I know if I’ve been selected?
About 15 days after the deadline. We’ll notify you by email. Check your inbox (and spam, just in case), but we won’t leave you hanging.
Will I be notified if I’m not selected?
Yes. You’ll get a message. And later, you’ll receive the annual book in digital format. Take your time with it, many of the answers you’re looking for are in there.
What do I get if I win the contest?
€1000 straight away, your photo in featured pages, your name, bio, and info in the annual book, a 12-month exhibition in our online gallery (visited by thousands), a certificate, a badge, and something even more valuable: real visibility.
Can I include it on my website or portfolio?
Of course. And if you know what you’re doing, you will. That’s why we give you the certificate and badge, not to save them, but to make them count where it matters.
Is there promotion after the publication?
Yes. We keep your work in motion all year long, through the online gallery and the annual book. Your image doesn’t sit still.
Can I be featured in interviews or articles?
If your work deserves a story, it’ll be told. We choose a few photographers to go further.
Does the annual book reach industry professionals?
It doesn’t gather dust. It reaches curators, gallerists, media, and festival directors. We don’t print it to store it, we print it to move it.
How can I pay?
Whatever works for you. PayPal, credit or debit card, and if you’re the old-school type, even a bank transfer. All options are fast, safe, and straightforward, so you can focus on your images, not the checkout.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. Right after payment, you’ll receive a receipt. If you need a formal invoice with billing details, just send them and we’ll get it to you within 48 hours.
Are taxes included?
Yes. The price you see is the final one. If you’re in Europe and VAT applies, it’s added automatically based on your country. No fine print.
Can I ask for a refund?
Only in specific cases, like a duplicate payment or a technical issue reported within 48 hours. Once your file has been opened, the process is locked.
How do I know if my files made it through?
You’ll get three confirmations. First, an automatic email when you complete the form. Then, one from WeTransfer once your images are uploaded and we’ve downloaded them. And finally, a message from us once we’ve reviewed everything. If something’s off, you’ll hear from us within 48 hours. We don’t leave anyone guessing.
What happens to my data? Will it stay online forever?
No. Your data is stored securely on EU-based servers, encrypted and with restricted access. We don’t share it, we don’t sell it, and it gets deleted automatically 24 months after the call ends, unless the law says otherwise. That’s the whole story.
Got a question? Just ask.
Write to us at [email protected] (Monday to Friday, 10:00–18:00 CET). We reply within 24 business hours. No question is too small — if it’s on your mind, it deserves an answer.
