Family photos - especially from childhood are... a recollection of the events that happened, the feelings you had, the thoughts you shared as a family. Positive or negative, photos will evoke how you truly felt at the time of taking.

A Virtual Summer project was selected and published in our print edition 20. A story about a girl being stuck at home pretending to be on the beach.
Looking up into the sky, the girl immediately realized the puffy clouds. Cotton balls in the blue sky. A nice day to live, she thought - if it wasnít for the boredom in American Suburbia.
I called this set “Another pandemic Easter (2021)”. Something that came into my mind while editing, and not really during the shoot. So besides the Easter theme, the photos may not have a lot of drama, narrative one may think.
The icy winds of change cut through me as I find myself in shoes that pinch my toes. The rye-grass skin of the earth offered a soft comfort. My frozen skin prays for the sun to peek through the gloomy clouds to kiss the land with warmth. However, the winds never give the chance.

We shot Suburbia in a smaller town in the Chicago Metropolitan area’s Western Suburbs. Pretty much the opposite of what you would expect doing a streetstyle shoot downtown Chicago.
Back in Germany in the 1960's and early 70's, and I believe I was 3 or 4 when my dad started to take photography to a more serious level.
Photoshoot : She said this angel will always remind me of her. I remember her words like she is talking to me right now. I hear her voice. Silent. Fading in. Clearly now. I close my eyes, trying to concentrate.

July 1969 - Lena and Denisa were enthusiastic and glued to the black and white TV watching the live broadcast of the Apollo 11 moonlanding... I don’t think there is a memory more burned into my brain than that of Apollo 11
She surely memorized every bush, shrub and berry by now. Her mom spent the past two hours explaining in detail how to get to grandma's house and she had to recite everything she said.
Waking as if from a dream, she stumbled forwards. She turned around but it was too late, the door slammed shut behind her.

Brighton wasn't exactly the coolest place in England. "A lot of old people, mum!" So Taylor wasn't too excited to visit her Grandma for the weekend, as a London girl, the seaside town wasn’t what she was looking for.
