Meet the photographers in this issue
Barbara Hazen | Cover | Barbara Hazen explores the inner self and the relationship between memory and family photographs, focusing on cyanotype and platinum-palladium processes. After working as a pastry chef, she returned to photography, and her work has since been published and exhibited in galleries and photography centers.
KM Smith | After the leaving | KM Smith is a Southern California-based lens artist who explores how perception and memory influence our experience of place. After careers in music and healthcare, he returned to photography, developing a deliberate style focused on composition, color, perspective, and visual structure. He studied under photographer Bob Killen and has exhibited widely in juried shows and online features. In 2026, he received the People’s Vote Award in the Fine Art category of the reFocus Awards Color Photography Contest and was selected as an Editors’ Pick for the LensCulture Critics’ Choice Awards.
Roni Ben Ari | All her voices – Rwanda | Roni Ben Ari is an Israeli multidisciplinary artist and documentary photographer whose work focuses on long-term social research and marginalized communities. Through immersive photography, she documents the lives of people often overlooked by society, including refugees, elderly residents, sex workers, and unhoused individuals. Her nine published photography books and international exhibitions use visual storytelling to raise awareness of social issues and inspire public and institutional action.
Dotan Saguy | Venice Beach | Dotan Saguy is a documentary and street photographer based in Los Angeles and California’s Eastern Sierra. After growing up near Paris and working as a high-tech entrepreneur, he left his career in 2015 to pursue photography full-time. His work focuses on communities, culture, and changing landscapes, including his acclaimed Venice Beach series and projects on Bodie and the aftermath of the 2026 Mono Lake wild horse roundup. His photography has appeared in major publications, received international recognition, and been published in three monographs. He also teaches documentary and street photography through Leica Akademie and other workshops.
Kelly William Wright | Hydro – Soma | Kelly William Wright is an internationally recognized fine art photographer based in West Florida, where he works from his studio surrounded by subtropical jungle. After establishing himself in the gallery world and later focusing on collecting vintage photography, he returned to creating art in 2018. His current practice combines historical photographic influences with experimental approaches, exploring themes of the human form, nature, immersion, and transformation. His recent projects have received hundreds of international awards, including Fine Art Photographer of the Year at the 2026 MUSE Photography Awards.
Sonia Fattori | Common Matter | Sonia Fattori discovered photography at age ten and has used it ever since to explore the connections between people, places, and memory. Her travels have inspired documentary projects and exhibitions across Europe, India, Brazil, Argentina, and Lampedusa. She also founded Vento di Terre Lontane, an association supporting humanitarian projects in Mali and Burkina Faso. Fattori is the co-author of two books, including works on Lampedusa and artist Franco Maschio.
