Himalayan peaks; Vasuki Tal via Nandanvan by Kaushik Dolui

Vasuki Tal via Nandanvan is a trek with unique visuals where we walked over Gongotri glaciers and later Choyurangi Glacier for miles & set up  camp at the foot of towering Himalayan peaks

Vasuki Tal via Nandanvan is a trek with unique visuals where we walked over Gongotri glaciers and later Choyurangi Glacier for miles &set up  camp at the foot of towering Himalayan peaks of Bhagirayhi at Nandanvan and later at at the foot of Vasuki Parvat, beside Basuki Tal(lake).

It was almost thirteen years back (Sept’2007). All images were taken by analog (film) camera. The trek has the highest altitude of 4800 M at Vasuki Tal.

The trek involves crossing many glaciers and boulders and that makes this trek really thrilling and different from other treks.  Nandanvan is a beautiful lavish meadow located on the base of Bhagirathi Group peaks. En route you get stunning views of peaks such as Shivling, Thalay Sagar, Meru, and Bhagirathi I, II, III. The trail of Vasuki Tal Trek goes through Gaumukh – the source of the mighty river Ganga and Tapovan We started from Gngotri and passed through the verdant forests of pine and cedar which ahead merges with the glaciated tracks. Most importantly, come across the colorful beauty of flora and fauna while exploring this remote region. It is home to a number of Himalayan animals and we also spotted deer-like grayish-brown colored Bharals, almost invisible against the background of mountain color  and they inhabit upland slopes of the mountain, still, I can remember.

Other things I can remember, the smiling saint of Uttarkashi, the tired sleeping baby on the lap of his grandfather, as a pilgrim during the trial to Gomukh Glacier on the horseback, the lone crow in the middle of the vast clouded landscape. Some of which I place here.  At present, when all movement restricted, only I can revisit the terribly sweet memories of the past.
