In mid-2020, at the end of a six week trip around the pristine wilderness region of the Kimberley in northern Western Australia, Graham took a morning flight in a small Cessna over the coastline of the main township of Broome, in the hope of capturing some beautiful and unusual aerials over nearby Roebuck Bay and Willie Creek.

Conditions were perfect – the sun had just risen, there were some small fluffy clouds around and the tide was way out, which he was wanting to offer up some unique and captivating tidal patterns and textures. The soft morning light bounced sublimely off the sand-bed and the meandering waterways etched in the sand, making for some stunning imagery. Graham had his camera in shooting overload, and it wasn’t all that easy with huge gusts of wind battering him at 1000ft with the plane’s door off.  But he says the experience of capturing the breath-taking beauty of this region from over-head was so worth it.  He has presented here a collection of some of his favourite images from that morning’s thrilling 1-hour flight, which he hopes highlights the amazing artistic beauty of this extraordinary region of Australia.  Graham hopes to be able to do many more of these photographic flights in the future to continue to clearly prove Mother Nature is truly the world’s foremost artist.

Graham is a photographer living in beautiful Perth, Western Australia. His first foray into photography was taking a Kodak Instamatic camera on a trip to Africa when he was eleven and he was immediately hooked. Over the years, Graham’s personal favourite style of photography has been traditional landscape, and when he combines this with travel it’s an extra special bonus for him. But more recently, he has been really enjoy pushing the boundaries between photography and art, with particular emphasis on movement in imagery and especially that of the ocean, of which he is so blessed with in Australia.   And Graham’s other newfound love is aerial photography, as it has opened up a whole new vantage point for capturing the extraordinary beauty of nature, as well as offering Graham incredible opportunities to reveal the artistic illusions that Mother Nature bestows.
