“Uncanny Valley” is a term from the field of robotics and represents the diagram to explain:
”When the aspect of the machine becomes too anthropomorphic it produces a strong revulsion amongst humans”.

That phenomenon has been frequently used  in  literature and cinematography. But, why do men sometimes make machines with a human or animal aspect? The impetus to anthropomorphize may be related to the perception of one’s own inability to predict or control the environment. It has also been stated by some that anthropomorphism is a psychological consequence of an emotional tie to the machine as an expression of the body. Some people say that the phenomenon comes from simple animalism, the belief that all things have a spirit or a soul.In any case, having ¨human¨ aspect could be dangerous for the machine. Those old machines were fortunate as they spent their lives on the safe side of the “Uncanny Valley” . [Official website]
