L’Opéra Fabuleux (The Fabulous Opera) Should we believe in Fate and if yes, is it possible to outrun to our own destiny ? Why some beings seem like be snatched by the black unfortune infernal spiral when others are blessed by the holy light and chance ?

Is there an antenatal determinism or should be believe that fortune or misfortune are promised to the random of social or geopolitical conditions of birth? Or again, do we undergo only the consequences of “good or bad” actions we do and that are judged and punished by a supranatural entity? The whole concept of “L’Opéra Fabuleux” visual series and novel is a philosophical study and odyssey about how birth origins can heavily hang over psychology and, so, over the whole life of any person being unfortunately born or grown in unfavorable or tragic conditions. All psychology studies show how there is only very little chance, if none, to escape from a promise life disaster and social discrimination. The only hope seems to be the chance to get a strong character with a furious desire to survive and to cross the ways of helpful persons and real friends, at the right moment… But it can happens! Should we believe into FATE ? “He was just dreaming about a normal life, but his fate offered him a Fabulous Opera…” This is the Story of Derek Rose: Derek Rose was born in tragic conditions in Cambodia during the Civil War and the terrible Khmer Rouge Army’s abuses, which made about 2 millions victims into the Cambodian population. His mysterious and inconvenient birth origins, which had to be kept secret by any kind of means, led him to an immediate death sentence by the Khmer Rouge leaders. For a while he was saved, hidden and brought up by a poor rural Cambodian family until all the family members paid, by their own lives, the price of their insubordination. Traumatized, the young child was exfiltrated by a French NGO but became amnesic. Unfortunately, in France, for some reasons, his birth origins had again to be kept as a State secret. So, in consequence, all of his past was definitively erased and a brand new identity given when he was entrusted to the orphanage where he grew up into a definitive spleen leading him right to insanity. Derek has then to undertake a long and very difficult way of complete reconstruction to rescue. From a total loss of identification and civil decline, a homeless life and everyday/everywhere dangers, Derek will only be saved thanks to the infallible friendship of a mysterious young fellow who patiently helped and gave him back the taste for life. Throughout an extraordinary destiny and a lot of twists in the drama, Derek bravely learns every key aspect of life, fighting against all pretences to find the difficult answers to his existentialist questions. Finally succeeding in becoming a famous international photographer and founding his own family, he is still far to imagine how much life could be unpredictable… [Official Website]
