My name is Michal Zahornacky and I come from Slovakia. I am 26 and I discovered my passion for photography in 2011. Since my early age I had a feeling I need to express myself, that I need to show myself to the world, my feelings & thoughts.

After I bought my first camera, I knew it is the tool how to express myself. As the time passed I created my own style and discovered the path I want to go. Since the beginning of 2013 I do photography on professional level. Besides the art pictures, you can also find portraits and wedding pictures in my portfolio. I publish my art work on many international photo web portals and magazines.

In 2013 I created my project called Dream Series. This project represents the escape from reality into a dream. The pictures of this project show various objects from everyday life, which are linked together in unusual way and create an illusion of a dream. The pictures are often surrealistic with a specific message. In my pictures I want to show my feelings, emotions and problems. If there is a problem that is bothering me for a long time I can use it and create a photo based on it. I try to do things differently.

My greatest goal is to express myself, show the personality and catch people’s attention. For me a successful picture is a picture that makes people stop and think, ask themselves a question “How?” and also makes them think what I wanted to show them and how I expressed it. Sometimes it is more important for me to show the surrealism and other times the emotion. Emotion is very significant aspect of my art work. There is no such a thing as good picture without emotion, whether we are talking about joy, sadness, peace or anything else.

I always take pictures of people. They are the object of all my art work. People represent an unlimited source of inspiration for me. Each person is different, original. During the photo shoot I always try to connect to the model, so he/she can show me the real himself/herself. I am always trying to make them comfortable, so they can feel free to express themselves and show me the emotion I am going for. It is all about the communication and trust. It is important for me to catch the personality of each model while taking portrait pictures, so they can show me their soul through their eyes. This year I am having my first exhibition, where all my pictures from the Dream Series will be exposed. In the future, I would like to have my own exhibitions also outside Slovakia. [Official Website]
