The sharpest impression of Cuba I’ve got, was an impression of running after two black guys, who tried to hide in Havana’s alleys with my camera. It was on the second day of my stay on the island. If I would not run fast enought, there were be no photographs to come home with.
The great hardship and asperity that Cuban people face on the island not only make them suffer, but also bring up the best human characters for those who does not break. This is the way it appears to me: if you photograph human, the right moment to do this is when he is awake and has to make some effort to remain human. All photographs made with rangefinder film camera and printed in a darkroom. [Official Website]
