MAGAZINE

UPCOMING PRINT EDITION: PHOTOGRAPHER SELECTION

Our physical edition is a powerful tool to present your work to the world. Although it adopts the format of a magazine, it does not follow the traditional logic of a magazine. It is an artistic and curatorial volume, conceived to endure and to place your work in the context it deserves. The magazine format allows your work to travel, circulate, and be discovered where it truly matters.

Each issue reaches curators, festival directors, galleries and publishers who are actively seeking new voices in contemporary photography. Being selected means entering their radar, opening doors that rarely open on their own, and positioning your work within a space of international visibility and editorial credibility.

This selection is not only about strong images. We look for photographers whose vision contributes something distinctive to today’s visual conversation. If your work becomes part of this edition, it will not simply be printed. It will gain real visibility.

IMPACT

11 YEARS CONSOLIDATING A REFERENCE PUBLICATION

For more than 11 years, Dodho Magazine has maintained a consistent and uninterrupted print publishing program, producing 36 print editions and presenting the work of 216 photographers from 32 countries across five continents.

This sustained editorial activity has resulted in thousands of printed copies in circulation and over 20 million digital reads and online views, positioning each selected project within a broad international context.

Dodho operates as a long term editorial platform where photographic work is not only published, but contextualized and circulated among galleries, festivals, curators, institutions, and industry professionals worldwide.

The impact of this model is demonstrably sustained: 80% of the photographers who first appear in our print edition return for further collaborations, reinforcing Dodho’s role as a trusted, stable, and professionally relevant publication within the contemporary photography ecosystem.

CIRCULATION

A PROFESSIONAL CONTEXT FOR YOUR WORK

Taking part in the Dodho Magazine call goes beyond being published. Each selected project becomes part of an edition that circulates through galleries, museums, festivals, and institutions dedicated to contemporary photography worldwide.

Dodho operates as an editorial and curatorial platform that places your work in professional contexts, where it is consulted by curators, editors, and cultural programmers. The list alongside this text reflects some of the spaces where our editions are regularly present.

Being published in Dodho means entering a long-term circuit, where visibility is sustained and aligned with contemporary photographic practice.

HALL OF FAME

A WELL-TOLD STORY DESERVES TO RETURN TO ITS ORIGIN

France Leclerc knew it when she photographed the dances of this tribe. She sent the project to Dodho, we accepted it, and gave it what it deserved: 20 printed pages in Issue #20.
The true publication happened later. France returned with the magazine under her arm and sat with the people who fill those pages. She didn’t show them a screen; she left them paper, ink, and a piece of prestige with weight. Look at them: on the left, the woman who dances so her culture will not fade; on the right, the photographer who turned that dance into a chapter you can leaf through, keep, and share.
When you wonder what changes with real publication, remember this image. A 20-page feature that traveled the world and came back to its origin. That is closing the circle. That is real impact.

Frank Meo has spent over three decades working alongside photographers as a mentor, consultant, and advocate, contributing to award winning campaigns, exhibitions, and publications, while helping artists develop sustainable and long term careers within the industry.

Completing the jury is Paris Chong, Gallery Director and Curator at Leica Gallery Los Angeles, whose extensive international experience includes participation in major fairs such as Paris Photo and Art Basel, as well as serving as a juror and reviewer for leading institutions across the global photography community.

For the past 10 years, we’ve published 34 uninterrupted print editions, showcasing the work of 204 photographers from 28 countries across five continents. Each artist goes through a blind jury system that strips away names and résumés, only the strength of the image determines the outcome. The result is a platform with thousands of printed copies and over 20 million digital downloads, placing every selected project in front of a truly global audience. It’s no coincidence that 80% of those who debut with us return for new collaborations.

WE COVER 95% OF THE QUESTIONS THAT MAKE PEOPLE HESITATE

Deadlines, formats, rights, payments, delivery, and publication details are explained below to help you submit with confidence. Please review this section carefully before submitting. If your question falls within the remaining 5%, feel free to contact us directly.
+ SUBMISSION
How can I submit my work?
Select the pack that best fits your proposal (Cover Pack, Magazine Pack, or both), complete the online form, upload your projects or images within the same form, and finalize the payment by card or PayPal. The entire process is completed in a single registration and only takes a few minutes.

How many submissions can I send?
There is no limit. Each submission must be completed through a separate form and payment.

Can collectives or duos apply?
Yes. One person should complete the form as the main contact. The submission and credits will be attributed to the collective or duo as a whole.
+ FILES
What are the image requirements?
JPG format at 72 dpi and a minimum of 1200 px on the longest side.

Can I include an explanatory text or statement?
For the Magazine option, including a PDF inside the submission folder may help to contextualize the project. It is not mandatory. Up to you.
+ WORK ELIGIBILITY
Do the images need to be unpublished?
No. If they have already been published or have even received an award, that is not an issue, as long as you hold the rights.

Is there any time restriction on when the images were taken?
No. Dates are not a factor. The jury focuses on what the image communicates, not when it was made.

+ RIGHTS & LICENSING
Do I retain the copyright?
Yes. Your work remains yours before, during, and after the process. You only grant us permission to display it (magazine, website, and other promotional channels), always credited to you and solely for the purpose of promoting your work.

Can I revoke the license?
Yes. You may do so by sending us a written notice at least 15 days in advance, unless the work has already been printed or is in the immediate process of printing.

+ JURY PROCESS
What does the jury look for?
The jury evaluates work with a clear voice, a defined intention, and strong execution, in line with Dodho’s editorial approach. Priority is given to projects that offer a distinctive perspective and a coherent visual and conceptual framework.

When will I know if I’ve been selected?
Results will be communicated approximately one week after the submission deadline. All participants will be notified by email.

Will I hear anything if I’m not selected?
Yes. All participants will be informed of the outcome. In the weeks following the selection, access to the digital edition will be provided, offering context to better understand the editorial criteria behind the final selection.

+ BENEFITS & EXTRAS
What do I get if I’m published?
More than recognition: real visibility. Your work is shared with galleries, festivals, and agencies worldwide. This is not about exposure for its own sake, but about positioning your work in the right professional context.

Can I use the publication in my portfolio or website?
Yes. And you should. It adds credibility where it matters most: open calls, grants, exhibitions, and professional opportunities.

Is there promotion after publication?
Yes. Our work does not end with printing. We continue to share your work, credit you, and connect it with the appropriate audience.

Will there be interviews or features?
In selected cases, yes. Certain projects are chosen for interviews or in-depth editorial features.

+ PAYMENT & INVOICING
How can I pay?
However you prefer. We accept PayPal and credit or debit cards. All payment methods are fast and secure. We keep the process simple so you can focus on what matters.

Do you issue invoices?
Yes. You will automatically receive a receipt once the payment is completed. If you need an invoice with your billing details, send us the information and you will receive it within 48 hours.

Are taxes included in the price?
Yes. The displayed price is the final price. If you are located in Europe and VAT applies, it will be added automatically based on your country.

Can I request a refund?
Only in cases of duplicate payment or technical error, provided you notify us within 48 hours. Once the submitted file has been opened, refunds are no longer possible.

+ DELIVERY CONFIRMATION
How do I know if you received my files?
Once you submit your files, our system will automatically send you a notification confirming that the material has been successfully received and stored on our server. We then review the submission records, and if we detect any issue, we will contact you directly to resolve it.

+ DATA & PRIVACY
What do you do with my data? Is it going to be floating around forever?
Not at all. It’s stored on secure servers in the EU, with encryption and restricted access. It’s never shared, never sold, and it’s automatically deleted 24 months after the call ends. We only keep it longer if legally required. That’s it.
