Meet the photographers in this issue
Yevhen Kostiuk | Cover | Yevhen Kostiuk is a self-taught photographer from Kharkiv, Ukraine, recognized internationally for his aerial work. He progressed from amateur experimentation to becoming a 500px ambassador, curator at 100asa, and member of Amazing Aerial. His work has been awarded in major competitions, including 1839 Awards, reFocus Awards, CEWE Photo Awards, and IPA. He has also received distinctions from the Federation of European Professional Photographers and recognition at Sony World Photography Awards. His interest in photography began in his teenage years, exploring different genres and tools. A turning point came in 2021 with his first drone, which reshaped his visual approach.
Alain Schroeder | Chains of madness | Belgian photojournalist Alain Schroeder has been working in the industry for over four decades, initially as a sports photographer in the 1980s and later producing books and editorial work focused on art and human stories. In 2013, he uprooted his life, trading in his shares in Reporters (the largest photo agency in Belgium from 1990 to 2010, with 25 employees), to pursue a life on the road with a camera. He now travels the world creating stories that focus on social issues and people. He is not a single-shot photographer; he thinks in series. He strives to tell a story in 10–15 images, capturing the essence of a moment through light and composition.
Salvatore Montemagno | Elective Affinities | Salvatore Montemagno is a self-taught fine art photographer based in Montichiari, Northern Italy. His work focuses on evocative portraiture inspired by twentieth-century painting, where suspended atmospheres, symbolic objects, and restrained gestures explore themes of identity, silence, memory, and the fragile tension between presence and absence.His photographs have been exhibited in several group exhibitions in cities such as Milan, Paris, London, Trieste, and New York, as well as in solo exhibitions in Italy. His work has received numerous international recognitions, including awards at the Moscow International Foto Awards, the FIIPA FIOF Italy International Photography Awards, and the Urban Photo Awards.
Gabi Steiner | The poetry of dust and horn | Gabi Steiner is a photographer and passionate traveler based in Austria, driven by a curiosity to explore the hidden corners of the world. She refined her artistic vision through long-term studies at the German photography college Foto-Kunst-Kultur, where she developed her technique and creative expression. Rather than adhering to a specific genre, she uses photography to capture the beauty of life, nature, and human connection. Her work often focuses on the lives and traditions of tribal communities, reflecting a deep respect for cultural preservation.
Antonella Cunsolo | Borderline Ocean | Born in Sicily in 1974, she graduated in Psychology from La Sapienza University in Rome and specialized in psychotherapy and phototherapy. Her passion for photography began at an early age, inspired by her father, who often photographed her. She began with urbex and landscape photography before moving into portraiture, studying with Italian and international masters. She later specialized in fashion photography at the prestigious Kaverdash Academy in Milan. Her work blends art and psychology. She is the author of two books, Io non muoio and Noi siamo bellezza. She has received numerous awards in national and international competitions and has exhibited in various galleries and museums.
Gregor Kallina | Scar Place | Gregor Kallina received his master’s degree in Economics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and a Master of Arts in Image Sciences from Danube University Krems. He attended the Anzenberger Masterclass for documentary photography (2016–2017). He is self-taught in photography and became a professional in 2013. His photographic practice combines elements of documentary photography with a poetic visual approach, aiming to explore the multiple layers of more abstract subjects.
