Ivan Pushkin is Russian visual artist working at the intersection of photography and digital media and exploring the perception of reality by contemporary human and society. He graduated from Maxim Gorky Literature Institute and the School of Photography of Elena Sukhoveeva and Victor Khmel.
I used a still-life table, a Fatif studio stand with an Hasselblad 500CM on it, and a Leaf Mamiya digital back. Hasselblad 120 macro lens. The light came from Profoto Strobo Flashes. The image was edited with Photoshop CS6
In photography, I always work on an idea, usually related to the human being. I read a lot on the topic to keep myself informed. I want the final image to be a visual poem, beautiful but disturbing at the same time.
I predict that my work is going in a personal direction that is driven from my personal life and experiences. I find myself re-inventing what I do every few years, so I will never know exactly what’s next.
It’s very funny story. I was on Christmas/New Year’s Eve vacations with my husband. We arrived to Berlin Sofitel Hotel like every year this period. We woke up after first night and there was a fantastic light of morning sun after the night snowing.
I wanted to include a series of portraits showing the wrestlers after the match with all the marks left and blood due to injuries during the match. This particular picture was taken when on tour at the Arena in Queretaro. In the picture is Mexican wrestler Sharlie Rockstar.
I am always open for new projects. In the meantime, I still continue working on my two series ‘’In the Bath’’ and ‘’Freckles”. I also have some new cooperation coming which we are organising at the moment.
My father opened that magic door to me. I was very shy – today I seem more gregarious, but basically, I am just an introvert who moonlights as an extrovert. Photography is the perfect medium for someone like me.

My approach for carrying my photography gear while traveling the globe is based on versatility. During transportation in flights or on the way to the places I am based, I carry a lot of stuff that I don't carry while I am out there photographing.

I'm actually shopping around for a new bag now, with the amount of travel I do they really don't have a long life. I would say a essential feature is be able to hold my computer comfortably and something that sits well on my back for long days.

I have three camera bags, I use them depending on where I’m going. Lowepro Rover Pro 45L AW, Hama Defender, and Lowepro Computrekker AW- which is on the photo and inside is mainly my photo equipment.
The essential tools for my work is of course photography gear with an emergency cleaning kit. Although arguable, in my case the lens choice strictly depends on which session, or travel, I have planned.
In my camera bag I carry my two Canon cameras, a 5D Mark III and a 7D. I carry a number of lenses, including a 24-105, a 28-70, a 70-200, a 16-35, and sometimes a 150-600, depending on what I’m going to be shooting.

In my camera bag I have really only the basics. I am not much for any conveniences. Two Nikon cameras, two short lenses (35 mm, 18-55 mm - mostly use 24 mm) and a zoom lens (300mm), which basically I do not use, but I take it with me on the road
