Barbara Iweins is a Belgian photographer who has lived for some time in Amsterdam.
She is now back in Brussels with her latest delicate photographs of women bathing. A collection of vulnerable moments infused with soothing colors of milky waters with hues of pink, mint and blue.
The Bath series captures privileged instants of solitary bliss and quietude. The artists is known to capture these peculiar times when people let go of their guards to truly be themselves. Moments when people wear no shields…when the world can’t ‘hurt’ us. Her previous project “7AM/7PM”, for instance, caught people as they woken up out of their beds. Laying in water is just one of these moments when life feels suspended from its worry and petty stress. As in her own words, water silences one’s inner racket noise of thoughts. The figures in these photographs are revealed sculpturally through a unique high-angle perspective. A fresh take on a well-known genre throughout art history, these modern bathing nudes exude sensuality and voluptuous pleasures. [Official Website]
