Photoshooting: Under a spell by Daria Amaranth

The idea came spontaneously before and during the photoshooting. The model's hair gave me inspiration to create this bewitched and mystique atmosphere.

Here is my new series of photographs that is called ” Under a spell “. The idea came spontaneously before and during the photoshooting.

The model’s hair gave me inspiration to create this bewitched and mystique atmosphere.

Two models are without make up, the tones of their clothes and background are minimalistic and strict – everything is concentrated around the atmosphere of secrecy and heroines’ emotions. These pictures are like fragments of imaginary reality or one of the character’s dream – viewers don’t know (they can only guess) if the story takes place in reality or in a dream. The location of the lyric heroines is not defined from the point of view of time and space, the lack of a clear definition of these concepts concerning this story also helps to focus on emotions and magical feeling of the moment. In different photographs of the series each of the lyric heroines becomes by turns the main character of the story. This story has no obvious beginning, nor readable ending – viewers seem to suddenly fall into a strange world and see pieces of some unknown and mysterious story. When considering the last photo it becomes unclear who is actually watching what is happening: viewers who look at the photographs or the heroines who are depicted in these images. Interlacing of dream and reality is an important part of my works. The most meaningful point is still the same: the aim is not to try to find an answer to the question but to let the mystery remains the main part of the story when this enigmatic incompleteness looks magnetic and beautiful in its own way. For me photoshooting is like movie-making when the whole series of photographs can tell viewers an unusual and mystical story but at the same time each image is an independent piece of art.
